THE Checkout Verulam Falcons successfully hosted its Helpers’ Run on Freedom Day with 60 members covering the 10 km and 21 km distances along the R102.

The club celebrated the 24 years of a democratic South Africa and its diverse ethic membership with a breakfast. The club displayed goodwill and harmony with inclusion of non-members who wished to join in the morning training run and breakfast.

The consistent Aubrey Sangweni led the half marathon run and was followed by Sanjeev
Roopnarian, Sagren Reddy, Judy Reddy, Marlene Pillay and Strini Nadesan. Celiwe Ndaba dominated over the half marathon walk. In the 10 km run, brothers Bilal and Ossie Rasool were first home. Omash and Romilla Nundlal came first in the 10 km walk. On Sunday, April 29, the 14th leg of the Asmals’ HyperSave took place from the Verulam Day Care Centre. More than 40 Falcons’ members attended the league.

Checkout Verulam Falcons AC’s 21.1 km and 10 km will be held on May 6 at Kingspark Athletic Stadium on May 6 at 6.30 am.
