Falcons’ newcomer dominates at Kearsney Striders

THE Kearsney Striders Half Marathon, 10km walk was held on Sunday at Kearsney College in Botha’s Hill.

The course was peppered with long and steep climbs and breathtaking views of the valley.

Newcomer Ismael Mahommed, had an excellent start to his athletic campaign under Falcons. Other Falcons that participated were Veeran Ramnarayan and Vitasha Ramnarayan.

Asmal’s Hypersave fifth leg continued with excellent participation. Juniors Bilal Rasool and his brother Ossie Rasool demonstrated their physical ability by leading the 15km in 1:20. Ari Perumal accompanied his wife Selvie to complete her first 5km walk in the league.

The Checkout Falcons AC held its annual general meeting on January 21 and Yunus Doba was re-elected chairperson.

Vice-chairpersons are Krish Vadivelu, Amres Moodley and Marlene Pillay. The club’s treasurer remains Mogie Padayachee and secretaries are Mona Moodley and Mike Padayachee. - Supplied.
