EARLY morning commuters along the R102 between Verulam and Tongaat were graced with the presence of athletes from Checkout Verulam Falcons, Verulam Athletics Club and the Tongaat Panthers clubs last Sunday.

Checkout Verulam Falcons members participated in the 15th leg of its popular development league, Asmals HyperSave.

Sagren Reddy led the half marathon with a consistent and relaxed run under six minutes per kilometre, to finish in 2:05.

The club’s Two Oceans 2017 finishers­, Yunus Doba, Marlene Pillay, Strini Nadesan and Amres Moodley, followed shortly to complete the 21km training run.

The front running group of Ashwin Bidesi, Farouk Kadwa, Preggie Moodley and Mongi Tshikitshwa finished the 15km run in 1:40.

The front running group of Maureen Gordon, Harshada Fakir and Savy Govender completed the 10km run in 1:30.

Fresh from his second-position finish in Chatsworth, Eddie Singh dominated as the first walker back in the 15km walk in 1:47.

Premie Reddy, another strong walker at the club, finished the 10km walk in 1:26 ahead of the other 10km walkers.
