Falcons’ year-end breakup run a resounding success

THE Checkout Verulam Falcons AC held its 20th year end breakup 10km run and breakfast on Saturday, December 16.

Falcons leadership thanked all members for their support and wished them well for the festive period.

Male walker of the year Eddie Singh completed the Westville AC’s Christmas 15km Challenge in 01:44 to claim third position on December 10. Leading Falcons runner was Nkosinathi Mxolisi Yalo.

The event attracted a field of 2 400 runners and many of them ran with their club members in groups known as “buses”.

The last race for 2017 was the Dolphin Coast Striders’ Big Hill Run held in Ballito on December 17.

Amres Moodley had a remarkable hill run to lead the 10km for the club.

Moodley completed the run in 01.07.

A week after turning 77 years, Ebrahim Asmal along with the experienced Krish Vadivelu steered junior Nikhil Ramnarayan on his first big hill 10km.

Bhekithemba Ncube was in good form, as he traversed the hilly climb to finish as the 1st Falcons in the half marathon.

Eddie Singh walked the half marathon in a time of 02.37. Other half marathon finishers were Vitasha and Veeran Ramnarayan. - Supplied.
