A FAMILY in Hambanathi, whose house burnt down last month, received groceries, clothes and blankets on November 29.

The ward councillor Zanele Khumalo said she alerted the Red Cross and disaster management to donate to the Majola family a few days after their house burnt.

The cause of the fire was not established, however, the family suspected it started at the electricity meter box in one of the rooms near their house.

Siphokazi Majola, the mother of three, thanked Khumalo for her assistance.

“We lost everything. My children lost their birth certificates, IDs, exercise books and other documents that were in the house.

“My thanks go to our ward councillor who always listens to the community and does something for us.”

Khumalo appealed to the people who want to donate groceries and clothes to visit her office at the municipal building in Tongaat CBD.
