A NEW crime-fighting sub-committee structure was elected at a meeting held in Waterloo community Hall on Sunday, November 17.

Sub-committees are the extension of community structures formed to work with the police in fighting against crime from the grassroots level.

Ward councillor Johnson Chetty said: “After numerous complaints received about criminal activities in the community, we decided to launch an additional crime fighting structure in Waterloo to root out criminal activities. The structure will work closely with the police and the CPF.”

Subforum chairperson Alphas Shugu said: “The aim of the forum is to assist the police in the fight against crime in Waterloo. We launched the forum after we received numerous incidents of house break-ins, robberies, cable theft and other criminal activities. We decided to launch a structure that will report directly to the CPF.”

CPF Chairperson Duncan Dube said: “We welcome all formations in the community with the a purpose to work with us in fight against crime.”
