THE Mountview Secondary School Alumni Foundation announced the first recipient of the MVSS Scholarship Award recently.
Khwezilokusa Maphasa (Grade 12, 2016) was congratulated for meeting the requirements and being the most successful applicant.
Applicants needed to demonstrate a consistent academic performance as well as display the capacity for social integration into the culture of the school to qualify.
The recipient is also expected to contribute to the further development of this scheme on completion of their studies.
Maphasa, having achieved seven subject distinctions in the 2016 NSC examinations, is pursuing a BCom degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
The founding members, Dr Kreshalen Govender and Dr Sivendren Thaver (class of 2008), wished Maphasa well in his chosen field and encouraged him to remain a positive role model in his community.
On behalf of Mountview Secondary School, the Class of 2008 was commended for this outstanding initiative.
Former pupils are invited to contact the school on 032 533 2887 or email mountviewsecschool@ should they wish to contribute to this community  upliftment project. - Supplied.
