THE SAPS Tongaat Youth Desk, called “Game Changers”, and co-ordinator Constable Lance Naidoo visited Verulam Day and Frail Care Centre to show appreciation and care for elderly persons on October 21.

The youth gave roses to the elders and chatted to them showing that the youth care and love them.

The girls also painted the ladies’ nails and the boys played cards with the men.

They also sang songs and danced with some of them passing on good vibes and bringing smiles to their faces.

Tongaat SAPS spokes- person Captain Patrick Ngwane said: “This initiative was welcomed by the community, and the station commander, Colonel Santha Moodley, applauded this initiative and thanked participants for using their spare time without being remunerated.”

Ngwane said the aim of their visit was to show the elderly people at the centre that they are important to the community.

“Many families don’t care about their loved ones once they are old and sick and just leave them at the frail care centre and don’t visit,” Ngwane said.
