THE Glenhaven Secondary hosted a matric motivation and interfaith prayer for the class of 2018 at the newly constructed school hall facility recently.

The programme commenced with an interfaith prayer, conducted by religious leaders from the community and within the school staff.

Billy Nair circuit Manager Selvan Chetty said: “Pupils, your parents are most proud about the fact that you are in matric and they have informed every friend and family member that you are writing for your matric certificate.

“You have the power to make your parents proud by ensuring that you work hard in order to ensure a pass at the end of your matric exams.”

Chetty made an impassioned plea to the class of 2018 to make the sacrifice and put in their best effort for one of the most important exams of their lives.

The motivational talk was followed by a powerful session with accelerated learning specialist Junaid Bhayat, who took the pupils through a process of how to prepare for the matric final exams. Bhayat explained the need for pupils to be organised and committed to their preparation for this very important examination. He also called for parents to be supportive and sensitive to learners needs during this crucial period.

Thereafter, school principal Mr P Reddy engaged in a comprehensive training process where pupils were appraised about the do’s and don’ts in the matric exams.

The programme ended with the schools trial exams awards ceremony, where pupils who excelled in the trial exams were acknowledged for their outstanding performance. Pick of the pupils was Cameron Dewlall, who topped the class of 2018. — Supplied.
