THE Glenhaven Secondary School joined with the rest of South Africa to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Nelson Mandela with a special programme in the morning and a mini exhibition, which ran at the school throughout the day, last Wednesday.

Sunaina Osman, a Grade 9 pupil at Glenhaven Secondary, delivered a powerful message on the legacy of Mandela which is an inspiration for all to aspire towards.

She quoted Mandela’s words which were inspirational to the youth and all South Africans, rekindling a sense of patriotism in other pupils.

Sisanda Nonzuzo, a Grade 11 pupil, also narrated a poem and read out Mandela’s favourite poem Invictus which literally translates to unconquered. The pupils were given an opportunity to view the mini exhibition which depicted the life and times of Nelson Mandela. -Supplied
