THOUSANDS of Jehovah’s Witnesses converged at Moses Mabhida Stadium for their three-day Regional Convention on September 15 to 17. The English, IsiZulu and Sign language delegates of Jehovah’s Witnesses from all parts of KwaZulu-Natal attended the convention, with the theme, “Don’t give up.”

Friday’s attendance was 19 854, Saturday 28 487 and Sunday was 28 300. The total attendance for the three days was 76 641. At the baptism on Saturday before the noon break, 348 new Bible students were baptised and are now officially known as ordained ministers of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The church said baptism represents something very important. “When immersed in water, it means abandoning the former way of life. It’s the beginning of a new life doing God’s will and living by his commands and principles.”

The three-day event included Bible instruction, a series of interviews, video dramas, encouraging talks and a three-part feature film, called ‘Remember the wife of Lot.’

“On Saturday afternoon the audience was captivated by the symposium, ‘Learn Endurance from Creation.’ This was developed by video clips of our beautiful creation that surrounds us, in particular, the Camel, Alpine trees, Butterflies, Arctic Terns, Lapwings and Acacia Trees.

“It was a time for rejoicing for Jehovah’s Witnesses, as the Convention also united people of all nationalities. Visitors were moved by the warmth and love that was seen.”

Trevor Lee, from the Convention Committee said: “This was truly a very timely convention. Today, the daily anxieties of life and coping with our own imperfections can be challenging. Our loving God, Jehovah has showed all in attendance how he supplies endurance and comfort.”
