THE Billy Nair Education Desk in conjunction with the Department of Education hosted Professor M.K. Angajan at the Tongaat Town Hall last week.

Professor Angajan, who is a philosophic and motivational speaker, conducted a powerful presentation to 800 teachers from the Billy Nair Circuit.

His presentation focussed on “Self mastery in education”. He highlighted aspects of self motivation, introspection, the power of the mind, positive thinking and team work among others.

The two-hour presentation held the teachers’ attention as he relayed realistic examples in the classroom situation.

His humorous and professional technique gripped the attention of those in attendance as they were able to reflect on their own experiences in the classroom and in their respective schools.

Mr Lajeeth Maharaj, chairman of the Billy Nair Education Desk, was full of praise for the charismatic professor and thanked him for his excellent presentation.

Maharaj said that all teachers will be able re-examine their own roles and responsibilities as teachers and view their pupils and their chosen profession in a new and positive light.

Mr S.A. Chetty, circuit manager was encouraged by the success of the programme. Chetty also thanked the teachers for their dedication and commitment to education and hoped that after Professor Angajan’s talk, “we will be empowered to the point that we will be able to impact our learners towards the betterment of society”. - Supplied
