THE Brake Village Aalayam Cultural Academy, the cultural wing of the Brake Village Sri Siva Soobramaniar Aalayam has done Tongaat proud once again.

Among four participating groups in the lower North Coast, the Brake Village Aalayam Cultural Academy was placed first at the annual Adults Tamil Eisteddfod held at the Greenbury Community Hall in Phoenix over the weekend.
The multi-talented group comprises candidates belonging to various temples and cultural organisations in and around Tongaat.
The Tamil Eisteddfod serves as a platform to promote the three facets of the Tamil Culture viz. 'Iyal' (language and literature), 'Isai' (music) and 'Naadagam' (dance and drama).
The group excelled in the language and dance categories. These include public speaking, prose, sketch, dialogues, Kollaattam, Kummi, village and modern dance. The group will move on to the next stage of the competition, the KZN Inter-Regional Finals.
