THE Chinna Thirupatti Temple , under the guidance of Bala Moodley, was applauded for providing pupils at schools in the south of Tongaat with meals, at an event held on February 23.

The aim of the function was to honour the elderly people who volunteer to make sure that the pupils get their meals on time.

Principals from different schools who attended the function were thankful and grateful to the team for sacrificing so much.

Moodley heads the sponsorship drive while the preparations are left to most of the senior citizens who arrive early. A representative from Silverdale Primary School, Ashok Kassie, conveyed his school’s gratitude for the provision of meals.

Andrew Konar of Belverton Secondary said that many pupils arrive at school because they know they will get a meal.

Vish Hariparsad of Flambel Primary echoed the sentiments expressed by all and extended his thanks to all concerned.

Trubel Primary principal Guru Ramcharan, whose school receives meals three times a week, was full of praise for Moodley and his team. “To provide such a service on a voluntary basis takes a special one. Indeed this team is special. Thank you for the work you do, you truly are the gem in our community and society at large. God Almighty will surely look after you,” said Ramcharan.

Any individuals or businesses that wish to contribute to the cause, both in cash and kind, can contact Bala Moodley at the temple.
