MAIDSTONE Cricket club clinched victory of the Tongaat Cricket Unions’ senior league against Seatides Dolphins Cricket club with a dynamic win by three wickets on 26 November.

Maidstone lost the toss and was sent to field first. Seatides batsmen got off to a flyer with openers Joe who contributed 20 runs and Priyesh Bachu with 8 runs. Thoroshan Moodley claimed the wicket of Priyesh Bachu by an excellent delivery which brought Jasvir Singh to the crease who continued with their momentum.

After losing Singh, who made 26 runs, to an excellent delivery by Keagan Gopal, which bowled out and left Singh speechless. Maidstone then introduced their spinner Sashen Gopal into the attack.

Rishen Madhoe, contributed 26 runs to the score as hefavored the spinners and displayed some excellent big hitting and unfortunately fell victim to Gopal.

Gopal thereafter demonstrated an excellent spell of spin bowling as he rumbled Seatide’s top-order and middle order. Gopal finished off with figures of (5-5-35). Maidstone introduced Bradley Gounden later on in the innings as he wrapped up Seatides’ lower order finishing off with figures of (2.1-3-2).

Maidstone bowled out Seatides Dolphins for a dismal 105 all out. Maidstone headed the run chase with openers Ushveer Mungal and Sashen Gopal. Mungal who contributed 37 runsproduced a captain’s innings as he showed an excellent display of batting, with shots all around the ground.

Maidstone thereafter lost quick wickets with some hasty decisions made by their batsmen as Seatides Dolphins showed a stunning display of fielding and team work.

This brought Firoze Khan with 10 runs and Kensley Pillay with 9 not out who steadied the ship and took Maidstone to an empathic win over Seatides Dolphins. Sashen Gopal received the Danny Noharis Man of the Match token for his great all round performance.
