THE My Maths Buddy project has taken up the challenge to bring South African mathematics standards up to an acceptable level where pupils will be equipped to face the work world.
The project is supported by Absa Capital CIB Citizenship, and it has proven with every school intervention, that an understanding of the language of mathematics is the key to changing the condition of mathematics in the country.

The project delivered mathematics workshops to pupils and teachers from Trubel Primary School recently.

Each attendee receiving a copy of the My Maths Buddy dictionary that the project is based on.

Facilitator of the project Paul Sondergaard said: “It has been shown that when mathematics results are steadily declining or at a low standard, the country has a steadily declining economy and high unemployment. In those countries where maths results are good, the economies are healthy and growing.”
