Multiple suspected drug dealers taken off the streets

A TOTAL number of 14 suspects were arrested in separate drug busts conducted in Verulam over the weekend.

SAPS Verulam held operation Fiela at Trenance Park taxi rank and arrested two suspects, aged 21 and 33 years, for possession of heroin.

Police spokesperson in Verulam Captain Henry Kisten said the police recovered 118 pink and clear capsules, 53 blue and white capsules and R300 cash, saying: “The money was suspected to be proceeds from the drug trade. Street value of drugs recovered was R3 500.”

Kisten said the police are working around the clock to curb the increase of drug abuse within Verulam community.

All the suspects are expected to appear in court for possession of drugs.
