Murder suspect hands herself over to police

2017-08-17 06:05

A WOMAN (47) was arrested after she handed herself over to the SAPS Tongaat on August 4, in connection with a murder of a 56-year-old man from Belvedere. It alleged that the suspect, whose name is withheld until she pleads in court, got into a fight with her roommate in Belvedere in August 4, and stabbed him.

SAPS Tongaat spokesperson Captain Patrick Ngwane said: “It is alleged that the suspect got into a fight with the deceased. The police then went with her[after she handed herself over to the police] to the scene of crime. On arrival the suspect pointed out the deceased lying on his back on the floor inside the shack. On closer observation the police noticed that the deceased had two open wounds on the chest.”

The body of the deceased was taken to Phoenix mortuary for post mortem to be held. Thereafter the suspect was placed under arrest.

She was detained at SAPS Tongaat police cells and appeared at the Verulam Magistrate’s court on August 7.
