Chain snatching: Verulam –

Members of Reaction Unit SA (Rusa) responded to a chain snatching complaint on Monday 9 May at approximately 3.45pm the intersection of Wick and Ireland Street in Verulam.

Upon arrival officers were informed that a suspect had grabbed a neck chain from a female and fled into Lotusville. Officers searched the area however the suspect could not be located.

Theft of motor vehicle: Verulam –

Be on the lookout for a white, 16V, bubble shape, Toyota Corolla with registration NJ 68397. The vehicle was stolen during the early parts of the morning from High Street in Verulam on 11 May. If anyone spots the vehicle contact Reaction Unit South Africa on 086 1234 333.

Pedestrian hit: Verulam –

On Wednesday 11 May at approximately 6pm members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Umdloti Beach Road in Verulam after receiving several calls from motorists requesting assistance for a pedestrian who had been knocked down.

Upon arrival the 42-year-old man was found to sustained moderate injuries. He was stabilised on scene before being transported to a local hospital. It is alleged that the pedestrian was trying to cross the road during peak hour traffic when he was knocked down by the driver of a Toyota Corolla.

Armed robbery: Verulam –

Rusa officers were dispatched to Temple Valley on Saturday 14 May at approximately 7pm after receiving reports of an armed robbery. Upon arrival the victim informed the officers that three suspects, one armed with a firearm and a second with a knife, had accosted him and robbed him of his cellphone and wallet. The suspects then fled onto the railway line. Officers patrolled the area in search of the suspects however no arrests were made.

House break-in: Verulam –

Rusa officers responded to a house break-in in Waterloo on Sunday 15 May at approximately 9.30pm . Upon arrival officers found that entry into the home was gained via the roof. One bedroom was ransacked and R15 000 in cash was found to have been stolen. - Supplied
