Common robbery: Verulam –

Members of Reaction Unit SA (Rusa) were dispatched to Cassia Road in Lotusville on Monday 16 May at approximately 7pm. The officers had received reports of a robbery which had occurred.

Upon arrival officers were informed that two suspects robbed the victim of his cellphone, wallet and bag before fleeing in an unknown direction. Officers patrolled the area in search of the suspects however, no arrests were made.

House on fire: Verulam –

On Thursday 19 May members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to B section in Parkgate after receiving reports of a house on fire. Upon arrival officers found that residents in the area managed to extinguish the blaze with the use of garden hoses. According to residents they noticed smoke emanating from the home and after breaking down the door they found that the fire was rapidly spreading through the home. Details surrounding the cause of the fire have yet to be established.

Theft of motor vehicle: Verulam - The public is requested to be on the lookout for a white Mitsubishi Colt bakkie with registration ND 53031. The vehicle was stolen from the Verulam Market on 21 May. The bakkie was fitted with a white canopy. If anyone can spot the stolen vehicle please contact Reaction Unit South Africa on 086 1234 333.

House break-in: Verulam -

Members of Rusa received reports of a house break-in on Friday 20 May on Dawnview Drive in Verulam. Upon arrival officers found that a window leading to a bedroom had been broken and the burglar bars forced in. It could not be confirmed as to what exactly had been stolen due to the house being ransacked

Bus crashes after mechanical failure: Sandfields –

Reaction Unit SA officers were dispatched to Noodsberg Road near Sandfields in Tongaat after receiving reports of a bus collision at approximately 2.50pm on Saturday 21 May.

Upon arrival approximately 35 passengers from the bus were found standing along the road side. None of them were injured in the accident. It is alleged that while cornering a bend the power steering pump failed causing the bus to veer off the road and crash into an embankment.
