Common robbery: Verulam –

Reaction Unit SA officers were dispatched to Wick Street in the Verulam CBD, after receiving reports of a robbery on Saturday 5 June at approximately 9.30pm.

On arrival officers were informed that four suspects armed with knives robbed the victim of his wallet, belt, cellphone and vehicle keys before fleeing in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

Officers patrolled the area in search of the suspects, however no arrests were made.

Motor vehicle collision: Verulam –

On Monday 6 June at approximately 6.45am members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Ireland Street in Verulam after receiving reports of a motor vehicle collision.

Upon arrival a mini bus taxi was found to have knocked into a tree after its brakes had failed.

One passenger in the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further medical attention.

House on fire: Verulam –

On Monday 6 June at approximately 6.30pm members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Champion Street in Verulam after receiving reports of a house on fire.

Upon arrival the fire was extinguished by the homeowner who was assisted by neighbours.

One room in the home was completely destroyed in the blaze.

It is alleged that the fire had started due to a burning candle however, this could not be confirmed.

Knocked while being chased by dog: Tongaat –

A 33-year-old man was injured after he was hit by a car on Thursday 9 June on Coronation Road in Tongaat.

At approximately 6.30am members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after being called out by members of the public.

Upon arrival the pedestrian was treated for a head injury before being transported to hospital.

It is alleged that the man was walking to work when he was chased by a dog.

In an attempt to avoid being bitten he ran into the flow of traffic when he was knocked down by the driver of a Opel Kadette.
