Victim stabbed during robbery: Verulam -

A Malawian national was stabbed multiple times during a robbery near the Verulam Testing Grounds on Friday 9 September.

At approximately 7am members of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) were dispatched to the scene after receiving several calls from the public requesting assistance for the injured man. Upon arrival the 36-year-old victim was found to have sustained six stab wounds to various parts of his body. He was treated on scene before being transported to a local hospital.

It is alleged that the victim and a friend, who are residents of Waterloo, were on their way to work in the Chubbies Garage area when they decided to take a short cut from Umdloti Beach Road to the R102.

As they entered the bush they were accosted by three suspects who were armed with knives. The suspects began assaulting the friends.

One of them managed to escape while his friend attempted to fight off their attackers. The suspects then stabbed the man multiple times before robbing him of his Huawei cellphone and fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

Officers patrolled the area in search of the suspects however no arrests were made

Vehicle crashes after losing tyre: Verulam -

A 31-year-old woman was injured after the bakkie she was travelling in crashed on the south bound lane of the R102 in Verulam on Friday 9 September.

At approximately 9am members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving several calls from the public reporting the incident.

Upon arrival an Opel Corsa bakkie was found blocking the right lane. The driver sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to a medical facility.

It is alleged that as the Ntuzuma resident was travelling down the R102 her left hand side back tyre came off the vehicle. The bakkie then spun out of control before crashing into the metal barrier separating the north and south bound lane.

Biker injured in crash: King Shaka International Airport -

At approximately 3.45am on 10 September members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the King Shaka International Airport intersection after receiving reports of a motor bike collision.

Upon arrival a 49-year-old man was found to have sustained moderate injuries after he fell off his motorbike. He was treated on scene before being transported to a local hospital.

Details surrounding the accident have yet to be established.

Driver flees accident scene: Verulam At approximately 4pm on Saturday 10 September members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the R102 near the Canelands intersection in Verulam after receiving reports of a motor vehicle collision.

Upon arrival a Toyota Corolla was found to have collided into a Toyota Hilux bakkie. The occupants of both vehicles were not injured in the collision.

It is alleged that as the Toyota Corolla was travelling in the north bound lane of the R102 the driver lost control of the vehicle before crossing over the centre median and colliding into the Toyota Hilux bakkie in the south bound lane.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene leaving his passenger behind. - Supplied.
