Tax i pushes vehicle off road: Verulam
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) were dispatched to Inanda Road in Verulam on the morning of July 18, after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival a Toyota Tazz was found to have collided into a rock on the side of the road. According to the driver he was exiting Mountview and travelling towards Verulam when a taxi forced him off the road. The driver was not injured.

The taxi did not stop at the scene.

11 -year-old saves brother’s life: Verulam

An 11-year-old pupil saved the life of his nine-year-old brother after he dragged the injured boy across a busy two lane road when he was knocked down by a car on Thursday, July 20.

Rusa received a call of a pedestrian and vehicle accident on the Inanda road near Trenance Park at about 4pm. Paramedics found that the nine-year-old had a broken right leg and suffered other injuries after being run over by a car.
He was treated on scene and transported to Osindsweni Hospital.

According to a passing motorist, the boys had ran down a steep embankment and failed to stop. The younger boy then ran into the rear of the passing vehicle and collapsed onto the main road after breaking his leg. His older brother then dragged him off the road to avoid him being run over by passing vehicles.

Hijacked vehicle recovered: Verulam

A Hyundai Accent, hijacked by two armed suspects in Waterloo, was recovered by members of Rusa on Thursday, July 20.

Reaction officer Fenton Govender was on patrol on Ireland Street in Verulam when he was flagged down by a resident requesting assistance after his employee had been hijacked.
The man claimed that two armed suspects had approached his employee and robbed him of R950 in cash and fled with the vehicle.

The victim proceeded to a nearby home where he sought assistance and called his employer who activated the vehicle's tracking device. The Rusa officer was provided with a location in Waterloo.

The officer proceeded to the area and recovered the vehicle abandoned on the roadside on Frog Road. The victim was not injured.

A search for the suspects was conducted, but no arrests were made.

Sibling stabbed during argument

A 23-year-old man was seriously injured after he was stabbed by his brother during an argument at their home in Waterloo on the morning of July 22.

At approximately 3.38am members of Rusa were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call from a resident requesting medical assistance for the injured man. Upon arrival the intoxicated man was found bleeding profusely from his injuries. It was established that the brothers were consuming alcohol when a fight broke out between the two.
During the altercation one of the brothers stabbed his sibling in the head and arm with a broken mirror.

Paramedics stabilised the man before transporting him to a local hospital.
