Pedestrian run over by bike: Verulam

A 26 year old female was injured after she was run over by a bike on the Old Main Road alongside the R102 in Verulam on Tuesday, October 17.

At approx 7:48am Rusa were called out to the scene by a passing motorist.
Upon arrival paramedics found that a female had sustained bodily injuries and was lying on the side of the road.

Medics stabilised the woman and transported her to Osindisweni Hospital.

According to witnesses, the woman who is employed at a local snack manufacturing plant was crossing the road to a parked company transport bus near the Verulam Steel Bridge when she was knocked down.

The driver of the Yamaha who was on route to Ballito then lost his balance and collided into a crash barrier.

The biker was not injured.

Armed robbery : Tongaat

Members of Rusa were dispatched to a tavern in Truroland, Tongaat after receiving reports of an armed robbery on Tuesday, October 17.

Upon arrival it was established that three suspects armed with firearms entered the business and held up staff.

The suspects then stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Reaction officers conducted a search for the armed men however no arrests were made. No one was injured during the robbery.

Hardware employee threatens to shoot building contractor: Verulam

Members of Rusa were dispatched to Estuary Drive in Missionlands, Verulam after receiving a call from a member of public requesting assistance after a hardware employee threatened to shoot him on Wednesday, October 18.

Upon arrival it was established that an argument ensued between both parties regarding an outstanding amount of money allegedly owed to the hardware employee.

The hardware employee then proceeded to his vehicle and drew a replica firearm and threatened to shoot the building contractor before stealing several wooden beams which he claimed was going to be sold to settle the outstanding balance.

Reaction officers seized the weapon from the hardware employee and handed him over to authorities for further investigation.
