House break-in: Verulam

On 7 March at about 3.30pm members of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) were dispatched to Hemlock End in Trenance Park, Verulam, after receiving a call from the home owner reporting a break-in at his residence.

Upon arrival, officers found that forced entry was gained via a window at the back of the property. An undisclosed amount of cash and jewellery was stolen.

Attempted theft of motor vehicle: Verulam

Reaction Unit South Africa officers were dispatched to Oleander Drive in Mountview after receiving reports of an attempted theft of motor vehicle at approximately 5am on 9 March.

Upon arrival officers found the passenger side door lock of a bakkie had been damaged.

The suspects rolled the vehicle several metres away from the house before abandoning it.

Pedestrian hit: Verulam

On 9 March members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Todd Street in Verulam after receiving several calls from members of the public reporting a pupil who had been knocked down.

Upon arrival Rusa paramedics treated the 13-year-old for an injury to his head before transporting him to a local hospital.

It is alleged that the boy was crossing the road when he was knocked down by the driver of a car.

Motor vehicle collision: Tongaat

One person was injured following a collision on the R102 near the King Shaka International Airport robots. At approximately 4pm on 9 March Reaction Unit South Africa received several calls from motorists requesting medical assistance for the driver of a VW Golf who had lost control of his vehicle and plummeted down an embankment.

Upon arrival Rusa medics treated the 29-year-old male for moderate injuries before transporting him to hospital.

It is alleged that due to the rain the driver lost control of his vehicle after coming into contact with a water patch resulting in the vehicle leaving the road, crashing down an embankment and overturning before coming to a stop several metres in an open field.

Theft of motor vehicle: Verulam

Be on the lookout for a 1993 model, white Toyota Conquest with registration NJ 32588. The vehicle was stolen from Imbokobo Road in Waterloo, Phase 6 on the morning of 10 March 2016. An identifying feature is a crack on the left hand side rear quarter glass.
