Roboguard home security beams

2017-11-16 06:00

EVER since I founded Security Hyperstore some 15 years ago I’ve been inundated with requests for cable-free alarm solutions to which I expressed that wireless systems are problematic and unstable.

This view has somewhat changed…

Crime and housebreaking had been escalating in almost every part of Durban whether you live in a house, complex or even on the streets, prompting people to upgrade their personal security and alarm systems. I believe that home alarm systems without outdoor protection is useless as outdoor protection forms a very important layer of your security system.

So in the first few years of business I did bucket loads of research with various products in the market place before eventually stocking and promoting the Roboguard brand of products.

The Roboguard security system is 100% wireless, which is a major benefit as it doesn’t require digging up your garden or paving to run wires like so many other systems on the market.

The other major benefit is that with most beam systems you have to install a transmit- and-receive unit.

Although this is not a bad thing, it is limited in the visual path that the beams can detect an intruder.

This is not the case with the Roboguard.

The Roboguard has 11 beams that cover an area of 110 degrees - what you see, is what it sees.

The beams are similar to that of passive sensors you have in your house already, although these detect with more accuracy and up to a distance of 20 metres.

Installation is a breeze although it does take a little bit of time to set them up just perfectly and calibrate them the way you want.

Believe me when I say that I personally installed up to three Roboguards around a house in a single afternoon and then made some fine adjustments to them the following day as we had a few false positives.

The installation is made really simple by the videos available on Roboguards website or Roboguards can be integrated into your current alarm system or run as a stand-alone system - -you can attach a siren too and for around R200 you can also get remotes to activate and deactivate the system as you leave and enter your house.

Each Roboguard contains eight batteries that power this fantastic device (they even come included) and batteries are said to last for up to three years before needing replacement.

The HQ unit that controls the whole system comes with a rechargeable battery and can also be plugged directly into the mains.

The HQ unit is a small portable device you can carry around the house with you if you so choose, and allows you to enable and disable zones at the simple push of a button.

All in all, if you are looking for an early warning system that is cost-effective, easy to install and easy to expand, you really can’t go wrong with the Roboguard system.

At Security Hyperstore we stock the guards in three colours – white, black and green.
