House break-in: Verulam

On 28 March at approximately 9:20pm members of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) were dispatched to a home on Adams Road in Lotusville after receiving reports of a house break-in that occurred. Upon arrival officers found that forced entry was gained via the front window. The entire house was ransacked and two plasma TVs were stolen.

Biker crashes: Verulam

On 29 March at approximately 9:34am Rusa medics were dispatched to Oakford Road in Verulam after receiving requests for medical attention for a biker who had been injured during a crash. Upon arrival Rusa medics treated the injured man for moderate injuries before transporting him to a local hospital. It is alleged that while travelling down Oakford Road the biker knocked into the back of an unknown vehicle causing him to fall of his bike. The driver of the unknown vehicle did not stop at the scene of the accident. Theft by snatching: Verulam

A gold chain was snatched from the passenger of a Hyundai I10 while stationary at the Inanda Road and R102 intersection. According to the complainant a suspect walked up to the passenger side window of the vehicle and grabbed her chain before fleeing in the direction of the Verulam CBD. The driver of the vehicle pursued the suspect on foot while contacting Reaction Unit South Africa for assistance. Officers were dispatched to the scene and a vast search was conducted for the suspect, however, no arrests were made.

Common robbery: Verulam

On 30 March at approximately 4:34pm a resident of Lotusville in Verulam contacted Reaction Unit South Africa after her son had been robbed. Officers were dispatched to Adams Road and were informed that the victim had been robbed of his backpack containing his cellphone and laptop. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

On 30 March at approximately 6:34pm a resident of Silver Oak Drive in Oaklands contacted Reaction Unit South Africa to a report a break-in at his residence. Upon arrival officers found that forced entry was gained via the back door. A 40-inch Samsung plasma TV was stolen.
