TRENANCE Park Secondary­ celebrated their 25 year anniversary at the Mountview Civic Centre recently.

The event was attended by former teachers, pupils and patrons who have supported it over the years.

The school's first principal Mrs K. Chetty, spoke of the experience and task of starting Trenance Park Secondary. Chetty also spoke about the challenges that were faced in setting up the school.

Current principal, Mr D. Ramsuran gave credit to his predecessors for their work in laying the foundation for academic excellence. Ramsuran also spoke about teachers of yesteryear and the current band of dedicated and committed teachers.

The guest speaker, Dr Nancy Govender, a clinical psychologist and former pupil, spoke of how her alma mata had prepared her for her career.

Teachers who spent 25 years at the school, include Ms S. Silal, Mr S. Raman, Mr N. Ramruthan, Ms CR. Sham, Mrs R. Mahabeer and Mrs D. Perumal. The teachers reflected on the school motto “Education is Freedom”. The teachers also commented on the school’s mission statement - to develop the total person towards responsible leadership, creative thinking, moral and ethical maturity.

The formalities concluded with the cutting of the 25- year anniversary cake. A souvenir brochure reflecting the 25 years of highlights at the school was handed to guests.
