PUPILS and staff at Silverdale Primary School in Tongaat were visited by the Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society (TCFWS) and officials from the Children’s Fund for their stellar ongoing support of the NGOs and their work.

TCFWS board of management member, Balan Subramunier, along with the Children’s Fund’s Devi Naidoo; came to the school on 26 April to present a certificate to Silverdale principal, R. Maharaj for the school’s outstanding contributions to the Children’s Fund.

Subramunier thanks Maharaj, together with Children’s Fund coordinating teacher, K. Viranna and pupils at the school for the dedication to the Fund.

“We are most grateful to Mr Maharaj, Mrs Viranna and all pupils at Silverdale Primary for their hard work and dedication towards the Children’s Fund. The money collected at this school will help to sustain the schools breakfast programme, which feeds more than 2000 children across the Tongaat area a breakfast cereal called Morvite on a daily basis,” said Subramunier.

Subramunier added that for the past two years, school uniforms were also provided to underprivileged pupils at the school.

“It is through the hard work of the principals, programme coordinators, teachers and pupils of participating schools that has made all of this possible, and we look forward to your continued support,” said Subramunier.
