Suspect arrested for possession of drugs

THE SAPS Verulam Crime Prevention arrested a man in possession of drugs in the CBD on Sunday, March 25.

The suspect was found in possession of 249 capsules of heroin and rock cocaine.

Police spokesperson in Verulam Captain Henry Kisten said: “The members followed a white taxi that was coming from Dawncrest area and stopped it at Ireland Street robots in the CBD. The police searched the suspect and found him to be in possession of drugs,” Kisten said.

Kisten said the suspect was arrested and appeared in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday, March 26.

“The street value of drugs seized was R6000. The members who effected the arrest was Warrant Officer Rajen Naidoo, Constable Rajiv Lokhia and Constable Sydwell Magwaza who were complimented for the good work by the station commander,” Kisten said. — Supplied
