THE Chinna Thirupathi Venkataswara Devasthanam temple brought early Christmas cheer to the children of Trubel Primary, Flambel Primary, Belverton Secondary and Silverdale Primary on November 24.

The Devasthanam was selected by businessman Ashley Naidoo and his wife from Johannesburg to facilitate the distribution of this cheer on their behalf.

The Naidoo’s provided 700 school bags, lunches and Christmas hampers worth R150 each. Parents were requested to come and assist the children in carrying the hampers home because of the weight.

The temple administrator Kershan Govender said: “As part of the CTVD Anadanam project, hot meals are served twice a week to the three schools in Belvedere.

“Plans are afoot to increase the feeding to three times a week in the new year, this is largely due to the kind support received from a few regular donors.”

Kershan said CTVD is sensitive to the needs of the community and is waiting to assist whenever a call is made for help.

“Annual free medical camps are held to support the needy patients. It’s management committee believes that the Devasthanam is a place of hope and support for the community,” Kershan said.

Anyone that needs assistance should call at the temple. - Supplied.
