Thinny’s league numbers growing

TONGAAT Panthers Athletics Club completed its training run and third leg of the Thinny’s League Challenge at the weekend with the number of participants increasing weekly.

At the weekend 27 runners and walkers participated from Victoria Primary School running along the R102 towards the airport in the 20km, 15km and 12km events.

Devan Reddy led the 20km pack finishing in a time of 1.42 and was followed by Paul Moopanar 1.52.

Chris Naidoo, Krishna Naidu and Dave Reddy led the 15km runners finishing in 1.38.

On Sunday a special Valentine’s Day training run will be held while the next leg of the league will take place on the 21 February.

TPAC will be holding a youth development programme every Tuesday from the 16 February at 4.15pm from the Flambel Pool parking area which is open to all youth.

The weekend’s results were:

In the 20km run: Devan Reddy 1.42, Paul Moopanar 1.52, Strini Moodley 2.00, Tony Singarum 2.00 and Johnny Naidoo 2.00.

In the 15km run: Chris Naidoo 1.38, Krish Naidu 1.38, Dave Reddy 1.38, Sunil Parekh 1.40, Rahul Ramlagan 1.40, Pushpa Pillay 1.47, Derrick Pillay 2.13, Sally Govender 2.13 and Bhagwan Lekha 2.13.

In the 15km walk: Keshini Maharaj 2.20 and Angie Baijnath 2.20.

In the 12km run /walk event: Babes Sithaldeen 1.47, Kaylin Periasamy 1.47, Shamla Naidoo 1.50, Selvie Naidoo 1.50, Mala Nundlall 1.52, Kem Maharaj 1.55, Joy Rajkumar 1.55, Gonum Moodley 1.55, Kogie Naidoo 2.04 and Sagree Govender 2.04.
