THREE people are fighting for their lives after two unknown men opened fire on them at the Waterloo Taxi Rank on Tuesday, December 18. According to the police and Reaction Unit SA, the motive for the shooting is not yet known.

It is alleged that the suspects jumped out of a VW Fox along the R102 near the taxi rank and opened fire on the victims.

The first two victims were shot in the legs and the other, believed to be a driver’s assistant, was shot multiple times.

Head of Reaction Unit SA Prem Balram said in a statement: “The gunmen then fled the scene. Several spent 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene.”

Police spokesperson in Verulam Captain Henry Kisten confirmed the incident.

Kisten said: “Three counts of attempted murder were opened. The motive for the attack is not known. The police are investigating, and at this stage no arrests have been made.”
