TONGAAT’S rising karate superstar Ashwariya Ramnarian who was crowned grand champion at the recent eThekwini regional and KZN provincial championships is going for gold at the forthcoming KSA nationals 2016 to be hosted thi weekend.

The Protea team top ranked fighter is in top form having demolished all opposition at the recent regional and provincial tournaments in KZN.

“This is going to be my best year ever and I am aiming high,” said the UKZN (Westville CAMPUS)student Ashwariya.

Protea head coach (cadets/jnrs) Sensei Brando Pillay who personally mentors Ashwariya expressed his total confidence in his protégé.

“Ashwariya has won the KSA nationals and Commonwealth titles recently and I firmly believe it’s now her turn to be crowned WKF world champion,” said one of South Africa’s top coaches Sensei Brando.

The second dan black belt Ashwariya, who kicked off her karate career eight years ago at the Tongaat sports centre (SKISA HQ) under the guidance of karate legend Hanshi Sonny Pillay (8th Dan black belt ), has grown in leaps and bounds and is today one of the most feared female fighters in the country.

“North coast superstar Ashwariya, who enjoys total support from her parents Ray and Dinesha, is an excellent role model for the youth of today,” said president of KSA Hanshi Sonny Pillay.

“Moreover Ashwariya is a young lady whom the youth of today can follow given her outstanding conduct and leadership qualities apart from her brilliance in the karate field,” added Hanshi Pillay.
