MOUNTVIEW Secondary had 14 teams that qualified for the Tonver finals on August 4 and 5. Many were placed in the first two positions. In a statement sent to the Weekly the school said: “The tournament was a gruelling one with our Soccer Division 14 boys going into extra time eagerly urged on my team coach Mr L Gounden and Dr A P Narain.” They finally went into a penalty shootout and won the day with extreme jubilation. “The Soccer Division 19 which is the highlight of the Tonver Games was a high paced match between Fairbreeze Secondary and Mountview Secondary. The match was fairly evenly levelled with both teams having equal ball position until the end.” Fairbreeze Secondary was supported by principal, Mr A Maharaj who was on the touch lines with Siva Govender and Mr Chabilal. Mountview tried hard to make a comeback, and finally lost 1-0 to Fairbreeze Secondary. - Supplied.
