Top honours for Tongaat

TONGAAT Secondary School scooped top honours with top school in the Billy Nair circuit and top pupil in the Mafukuzela-Gandhi circuit at the Mafukuzela-Gandhi circuit NSC awards at the AM Moola Spes Nova Hall in Phoenix recently.

The school also achieved the highest pass rate with 93.3 percent of their pupils passing the 2015 NSC examinations.

The school’s top 2015 matriculant Kival Deeplal was also first in the Mafukuzela-Gandhi circuit among quintile four schools.

The Mafukuzela-Gandhi circuit comprises 250 schools while the Billy Nair circuit comprises of schools from Verulam and Tongaat.

Principal Rajen Singh said the school is proud of their achievements and they hope to do better in the coming year.

“I’m very proud of what our pupils achieved and wish them well in their futures endeavors,” said Singh.

“Our target for 2016 is a 100 percent pass which is achievable.”

A third major award was scooped by the Billy Nair circuit which received the best results in the Mafukuzela-Gandhi circuit with an 84 percent pass rate.

The award was presented to Billy Nair circuit manager Mr S.A. Chetty.
