TPAC training hard

THE high temperatures on Sunday didn’t deter the Tongaat Panthers Athletic Club as its runners continued their hard training at the weekend.

The club members continued their training on the R102 towards the King Shaka International Airport from Victoria Primary School.

The weekends runners trained earnestly and at the same time enjoyed the camaraderie displayed among the participants.

This week the club welcomed two recruits in Viresh Rampurtab and Avikaar Gunsham who painlessly completed the 15km and 12km routes respectively.

The 2nd leg of the Thinnys League takes place on 31 January at 5:30am from Victoria Primary School. The Thinnys 19 km Camaraderie Challenge takes place every Wednesday at 3pm.

Thinny’s League

The first leg of the Tongaat Panthers Thinny’s League Challenge kicked off to a great start at the weekend with the 22 members participating in various distances.

The times from the weekend were: in the 20km race: Devan Reddy 1:40, Paul Moopanar 1:57, Tony Singarum 2:13 and David Reddy 2:13. In the 15km run/walk Chris Naidoo 1:39, Krish Naidu 1:40, Pushpa Pillay 1:47, Brandon Naidoo 1:47, Sally Govender 2:02, Keshini Maharaj 2:15, Babes Sithaldeen 2:15, Gonum Baijnath 2:15, Joy Rajkumar 2:15, Bugwan Lekha 2:15, Gonum Moodley 2:17, Kaylin Periasamy 2:40, Mala Nundlall 2:41, Ricky Moodley 2:41 and Kem Maharaj 2:42. In the 12km Shamla Naidoo 1:40, Kogie Naidoo 2:05 and Selvie Naidoo 2:05.

The second leg of the Thinny’s League Challenge is expected to be equally competitive. .

The club has reminded runners to renew their club licenses.

The club have also welcomed new members who would like to become a part of the club to join in their activities.
