A MAN (45) charged with the murder of a Phoenix mother and her two daughters appeared at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, September 25 to apply for bail.

DA councilor Geoff Pullan said: “I attended the hearing, but only a few were allowed into court.

“Everyone is absolutely shocked at the triple murder. There seems to be no logical explanation why anyone would do this. My sympathies to those three victims,” he said.

The victims were identified as Jane, Denisha, and Rackelle Govender.

According to the police the suspect is known to the family however, the husband of the deceased was quoted in the media as saying the suspect is not known to the family.

On September 21, Phoenix police responded to a report of murder at Longcroft Drive in Phoenix.

On arrival they found two bodies inside the house.
