Under 17 makes community proud

THE Verulam Academy U17 team represented the region with pride at the SAFA under 17 tournament held at Cato Manor Sports Field.

Despite hiccups caused by poor organisation of the tournament, the team excelled and earned an open trial with Amazulu F.C.

President of the Verulam LFA Martha Narainsamy was on hand to congratulate the boys on this great achievement.

In other news, Sunday’s Premier League results saw Parkgate Celtics overcome a resilient Classic F.C. 2-1 and victories for Verulam Stars over Parkgate Swallows by the same scorline followed by an impressive 2-0 vistory for Verulam United over Green Leaf.

The following fixtures will be played at the Verulam Recreation Grounds on 5 June 2016:

Game 1: Green Leaf vs. BhakaBhaka (10.30am)

Game 2: Verulam Stars vs. Parkgate Celtic (12)

Game 3: Mswenko F.C. vs. Verulam United (1.30pm)

Game 4: Classic F.C. vs. Parkgate Swallows (3pm)

This week will see the first round of our invitation only junior tournament for U9 and U11 seven a side and under 15 tournament.

The U15 tournament will be played in four groups A, B, C and D with venues located at Waterloo Sportsfield, Verulam Recreation, Parkgate Field and Osindesweni Sportsfield respectively for each group.

The U 9 and U11 will be played at the Verulam Recreation Grounds from 9am.

All games will start as indicated. If teams do not show up on time they will concede a walk over and a fine. For more information contact Nico Mazwayi on 079 306 2927.
