Verulam day of yoga

2016-06-23 06:00

FOLLOWING the success of the inaugural Verulam Day of Yoga in 2015, and honouring the call by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for the promotion of yoga, an ancient art form that invigorates both the body and the mind, the Verulam and Districts United Hindu Forum (VDUHF) will be hosting its second Verulam Day of Yoga.

It takes place on Sunday 3 July at the Mountview Civic Centre in Verulam at 8am.

The session of yoga conducted by yoga facilitator Ms J. Fakir and will focus on postures or asanas that are designed to relieve stress given the debilitating pace of the rat race we experience.

This will be followed by a short meditation session. According to Dr Deepak Chopra, author of many health books including Perfect Health, and the Poet Prophet of Alternative Medicine, meditation can actually reduce the incidence of heart attacks and cancer.

The meditation will be followed by refreshments. Free diabetes and pressure tests will also be conducted, and to ensure that the quest for healthy living permeates the homes of each participant, the making of healthy meals will be demonstrated.

Participants are advised to have a light breakfast, especially if they are diabetic, and carry a towel, carpet or yoga mat to participate in this life-changing event.

Yoga transcends barriers of race, colour, age, sex and creed and seeks to unite all of humanity irrespective or social standing or financial disposition, thus everyone is welcome to attend.
