VERULAM dentist Dr Nigel Govindsamy welcomed young dentist, Deevanie Reddy to work at his surgery recently.

Born and bred in Verulam, Reddy’s aim is to give back to the community by offering her services to the residents. The University of Pretoria graduate is passionate about changing people’s lives of her community by introducing latest technology and methods in dental care.

After she completed her matric at Mountview Secondary, she wanted to pursue a career in dentistry.

As a young girl whose passion has always been dentistry, she looked up to some of the local dentists in the area and that motivated her to follow her dream.

She gained experienced while working with other dentists as well.

Reddy said: “I gained some experience, I worked with dentist as well, I have done my community service. Even though I am not a specialist I have special interest in specific parts of dentistry like surgical dentistry. I am also interested in paediatric dentistry,” she said.

Since February 5, Reddy joined the Verulam Doctor Nigel Govindsamy at his practice.

“Here we focus on smile make overs, for example capping the front teeth, making small changes so that they can get confidence back. We try to deliver exceptional services. The good thing being a young dentist, [is that] you’re up to date with the changes, like the latest technology and latest methods. We are learning new stuff that makes things more efficient and saves time compared to the old methods.

Reddy urged the public to support her and have faith in her services.

“We always try to do our best as medical professionals for our patients without causing harm,” she said.

She encouraged the youth who want to study dentistry to follow their dreams in order to prosper in life.

“I was passionate about becoming a dentist when I was 10 years old. It was not an easy journey, studying any medical profession at tertiary level is difficult and if you are not motivated to do that to be able to say I want to wake up every day and do this then you should not be doing it. You should choose something else. Follow your heart and your passion.

“In this practice we use latest technology and methods in dental care. I am a general dentist. I practice everything,” Reddy said.
