SIBAYA Casino and Entertainment Kingdom welcomes Camngco “Clix” Salman into the fold as VIP Services Manager. Sibaya’s VIPs and valued guests can rest assured that they are in the most capable hands with him at the head of VIP Services.

As VIP services manager, Salman will be responsible for all special events and VIP functions and promotions at Sibaya. He comes to Sibaya with over a decade’s worth of experience working at some of Africa’s best known casinos and resorts.

Salman started off as an intern at Sun International’s The Boardwalk in Port Elizabeth and was later accepted into the inaugural Sun International Gaming Marketing Development programme which saw him get to travel and work at various properties including the Wild Coast Sun, and the Royal Livingstone Hotel and Zambezi Sun in Zambia.

Salman thrives on the fast pace and excitement of working in the dynamic hospitality and gaming industry.

“I enjoy the people interactions and relations that one builds with staff and customers as well as the exposure to different cultures and personalities. In recent years, there has been a strong focus on extending the offering of casino properties to allow them to become more family friendly destinations. This has called for creativity and innovation in terms of what we offer our guests.

“There has also been a lot of innovation in terms of gaming systems and promotions mechanics over the years which I think has improved the customer experience. I thoroughly enjoy being part of creating unforgettable experiences for guests and in my new role, this will be my primary role,” says Salman.

Salman has always been involved in the hospitality and gaming sector. He came straight from Technikon into the industry and was immediately captivated.

“To think that I actually wanted to study engineering,” he quips.

Salman is married and has a five year old daughter, who he says are tolerant of the late nights and time he spends away from home, especially in the four years he spent in Lesotho when he only saw them every six weeks.

Though there have been many long and hard hours anyway from home, he doesn’t regret it. “I try to regret as little as possible about my life and believe I am exactly where I am meant to be,” he says.

When he is not working, he spends time with his family and is a keen golfer with a 21 handicap. One of the most impulsive things he has ever done is give away his brand new golf shoes to an aspiring golfer after he heard his tale of hardship.

“I ended up walking around the country club in socks because those were the only shoes I had brought with me. But I believe everyone should be given a chance,” he says.

Salman, who has aspirations of becoming the general manager of a casino one day, says following through is paramount in everything.

“If you want to succeed, you need to feedback and follow up. You need to expect this and also give it. Also, never underestimate the importance of continual learning. Never ever stop. You will also learn a lot more if you listened more and spoke less. But never be afraid to speak the truth,” he says.
