VISHWASKATI, a community youth development and cultural spiritual awareness organisation in Tongaat held a yoga programme on the beach at Tinley Manor on April 23.
More than 80 people, ranging in age from five to senior citizens attended.

The CEO and yoga instructor Kamal Maharaj said in a statement: “Exercising out of doors is full of benefits.
“The changing scenery keeps your mind engaged and the fresh air is good for your emotional wellbeing, but the beach in particular, is a great place to work out.
“Just like a Bosu ball trainer the sand is constantly shifting and changing, demanding various muscles in the body to come into play.
“Yoga on the beach is really beneficial . The heat from the sand is also relaxing to the muscles.”

The organisation said the programme was an enduring one-hour workout that was enjoyed by all especially because of the relaxing sound of the waves.
“This was followed by a beach hike and a healthy breakfast.
“Last month Vishwaskati held yoga at Botanical Gardens in Durban.
“The organisation plans to host a programme every month at different venues.
“Vishwashakti also holds dance and drama classes. Forthcoming attractions include their show Mumbai Milkshake at Sibaya on July 14 and 15.”
