THE Glenhaven Secondary School was given a major boost of confidence by VW South Africa when the motor car company sponsored a petrol engine to the value of R40 000 to the school, which has chosen to go the technical route in terms of education.

Glenhaven commenced with their technical streaming three years ago with courses offered in civil technology construction and mechanical technology automotive.

The school also offers engineering graphics and drawing and electrical power as well.

Principal Philip Reddy said: “We decided to heed the call of the government and industry for a skills development education which will ensure that pupils become employable when they leave school”.

“Our courses at Glenhaven Secondary ensures that even if pupils are not able to pursue an academic tertiary education they will be employable if not set up their own skillsbased service business,” Reddy said.

Reddy expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Nolene Klein of the Customer Interaction Centre and Hoosen Khan of the VW Training Academy who facilitated the sponsorship to Glenhaven Secondary.
