THE Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society took the opportunity to reach out the senior citizens of the Tongaat community throughout the month of August.

Senior citizen clubs were recipients of the empowerment talks that were presented by the social workers of the Society. The clubs included Hambanathi Senior Citizens Club, Sandfields Senior Citizens Club, Flamingo Heights Senior Citizens Club, Buffelsdale Senior Citizens Club and the Watsonia Women’s Circle.

Hambanathi Clinic also welcomed the social worker’s talks which were directed at the patients of all ages.

The talks encompassed various topics such as women’s rights, responsibilities, moral degeneration and on reporting abuse of all forms. A placard demonstration was also held at the Victoria Hospital intersection in early August. — Supplied
