A WOMAN (42) died after she was hit by a train in Fairbreeze on Monday 3.

According to Paul Herbst for IPSS Medical Rescue, the body of the victim was found next to the train tracks on Tuesday morning.

Herbst said this was a second train incident this week after a man was hit by a train in Ballito.

It alleged that the victim was crossing the railway on Monday at around 8pm when the incident happened. Her body was recovered on Tuesday morning.

Police spokesperson in Tongaat Captain TZ Ngwane confirmed the incident.

“SAPS Tongaat received a complaint of a dead body at Magwaveni area. On arrival the police found a 42-year-old woman lying on the railway tracks. It was established she had been knocked by a train.

“The body was then taken to government mortuary for post mortem to be held. An inquest docket has been opened and the police are investigating.”
