A 25-year-old woman was left seriously injured on Monday morning after a truck crashed into her light motor vehicle on Chris Hani Road in Mounte Edgecombe.

ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene and found the car and truck lying on the side of the road.

“It is understood that the truck had collided with the vehicle, dragging it through the intersection and finally smashing the vehicle through the roadside barrier,” said ER24 spokesperson Russell Meiring.

“On assessment, paramedics found the female driver lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle in a serious condition.”

Rescue services used the jaws-of-life equipment to free the trapped woman from the vehicle.

“Once freed, paramedics treated the woman and provided her with advanced life support interventions. She was thereafter transported to Ethekwini Hospital for further treatment.”

The driver of the truck was apparently not found on scene.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations. - Supplied
