THE Tongaat Cricket Union held its KFC Mini Cricket Festival at the Outspan Ground recently.

The festival was attended by over 120 children from nine different primary schools in the Tongaat area.

The children were excited and played with passion, trying to make as many runs or take as many wickets as possible.

The fun and excitement could be heard throughout the grounds as children, teachers, parents and coaches from the various clubs in the union supported the children at the event.

Secretary of Tongaat Cricket Union Kalvin Padayachee said in a statement: “We would like to thank all the schools that attended, this shows the development of cricket from grassroots.

“Thanks to the teachers and parents for making time to be there with the kids. We thank all the clubs from the union for sending reps to help coach the children.

“Thanks also to the KFC KZN co-ordinator for taking time out of his busy schedule to be at the festival and for bringing the jumping castle, which the kids had fun playing on. The festival was a success and the KFC mini cricket co-ordinators of Tongaat cricket really did an excellent job.”
