THE Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society hosted a youth holiday programme on October 5. The programme was held at Tongaat Child Welfare premises and the main purpose was to disseminate information based on career options and choices and offer guidance. The society invited pupils from Grade 9 to 11, which included foster children of the society.

Social work manager Jo Moodley said: “This was based to the fact that the majority of the youth are not provided with the right platform to either choose the correct subjects in school or choose the right career based on performance and skills.”

Moodley said it has been discovered that most of the foster parents and caregivers are not well equipped to offer the relevant information.

The guest speakers at the function provided insightful information on the process of obtaining financial aid and the procedures to be followed when enrolling into tertiary education.
