THE Ixopo community’s prayers of having a proper community hall were answered last week when the Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality officially opened an R8 million community hall named the Peace Initiative Hall.

The community has been without a hall for a long time after a hall they had was burnt down due to an electrical fault.

The new hall has better features than the previous one and boasts a movable stage which makes it convenient for any kind of event.

Well-known gospel artists Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Lusanda and Betusile Mcinga entertained the crowds at the opening.

It was also a day of prayer for the municipality leadership as church leaders prayed for Mayor Zamo Nxumalo.

Lindelani Ngcobo from Nokweja rural village was thankful to Nxumalo for building the hall.

“We are very happy about this hall because we will now be able to hold many events,” he said

Nomandla Dlamini of Fairview in Ixopo also commended the Ubuhlebezwe Municipality for rebuilding the hall.

“Its a beautiful hall, we will now be able to hold activities and programmes in it,” she said

“This hall is a clear indication that we are a responsive government,” said Nxumalo.
